In my earlier article you read about using an auto responder to stay in constant contact with your customers or visitors.  At first you may have thought it’s a little impersonal to have a computer send your emails to your customers; you probably still think it’s spammy.

“Who wants to read computer generated emails?”

I’m with you on that thought: automatically generated emails can come across kind of cold-hearted  and emotionless and when they do, they can have a negative impact on your business relationships.    But your emails don’t have to be that way.  It all depends on how you write them and how you set them up.

See, back a half a decade ago or so, most people wrote emails and web articles in the official school-learned book-written style.  Kinda dull, stiff and boring, you know what I mean?

Not only were those emails and articles hard to read, it turned out that most people wouldn’t read them, because they either didn’t understand them or they lost interest after the first sentence.  The writing style actually turned them off.  Internet visitors didn’t want to have to be so focused and serious after working hours, I guess.

Then some marketing researchers started to experiment with a much freer writing style when they were trying to ‘talk’ to the general audience, the average guy (that’s you and I, by the way), on the internet.  They did it in a way that was more a write-it-as-you’d-say-it style.  They began to use eight grade level language, basically for two reasons:

1. In advertising and marketing, part of the brain that helps the customer with buying their decision making understands only very basic commands: click here; do it now; read on; try this, etc.  They found that emotionally charged words and commands get people to do what they want, i.e.: to click, to acts, to read, etc.
2. The simpler English language is easier to read by people who have English as a secondary language: foreigners learn basic English and many will understand eight grade level written English quite well.

The result:  a massive increase in sales!

It worked!

But… why did it?

Remember when you were a child and your parents would ask you politely to, say, go do the dishes,  and you said: NO! Or you were pussyfooting around, pretending you didn’t hear them?

Did they get your attention when they commanded: “Come on over here RIGHT NOW and FINISH THE DISHES! “

You grunted, left what you were doing and did what you were asked to do.

That emo-talk still works on adults; it gets them to act, especially when they believe they will get some reward after their action.  It won’t work if they feel they’re being set up or taken advantage of though.

In copy writing, you use emo-talk.  But not punky or anything.  Emo in the original sense of ‘emo’: emotional, from the heart.  Like you actually have a real  personal, heart-to-heart conversation with them.

Kinda like talking to a kid, without placating or down talking them.

Learn some emotional trigger words and start using them in your writings.  It will take some getting used to, ’cause that’s not what you learned in school, but start practicing and soon you’ll get a hang of it.

Copy writing is probably the most effective method to increase your bitna business.  (Sorry about that)

Before we get to that question, picture this scenario for a minute:

You have your internet business set up nicely and it’s been running or a few months now.  You’re getting over 1000 visitors a month visiting your site and many of them are buying your product.  Yay!!

Thank you notes are flying out the window (or the mac) like hot cakes.   At this point you are shooting out over thirty (30) “Thank you!” notes a week, and find you don’t have time to write those elaborate notes any more.  So you ask your younger brother or sister (or your teenage daughter) to be your assistant email responder.  (If they don’t want to, you’ll just have to bribe them with a little money, or one of those hot cakes.)

You have a decision to make though: writing takes w-a-y too much time, causes writer’s cramp, calloused eyes and, darned, you now have so many other things to do to keep your business going.  You’re so busy, you can no longer personally respond to all visitors you want to.

You need an Automatic Responder!

An Auto Responder can be easily set up so your visitors can receive a series of pre-written emails from you, at intervals you set ahead of time.  Could be as soon as they click to purchase your product, could be follow up emails starting the next day or next week, whatever you like and however often you  like to be in touch with them.  (Those strings of emails are called: drip emails)

If you send them emails that are written at Master in English Literature level, your customers will feel that you’re impersonal and cold, then turn you off.

See ya!! Wouldn’t wanna be ya!!

You’ll end up on their junk-mail or spam list and you lost a customer.

When you ‘talk’ with them instead of write at them, they will more than likely stay with you and even wait for your emails.  Drip emails help make that job much easier.

“You can also use Auto Responders to tell  your existing customers

about special offers and new and upcoming products.”

Auto Responders do require you to spend some time setting them up with your drip emails.  In fact, you’ll need direct your one-on-one, person-to-person emails only to your first customer or visitor, save the emails in the order you sent them, and you’ll have your drip emails for all following customers.  An easy way to stay in constant contact with them.  You can always make little adjustments or add-ons as your business and product line develops.

You can also use Auto Responders to tell  your existing customers about special offers and new and upcoming products.  They will appreciate that, but be careful not to bombard them with advertisements; they’ll add you to their junk-mail list before you can say “Buy Now”!

Auto Responders are only as good or as bad as your content, your writing style, their frequency (too much looks spammy) and their use for advertising on your part.

Keep your drip emails light, friendly, considerate and aimed to educate your customer with a little hint of humor every once in a while.

In a short time you’ll see how using an Auto Responder increases your business relations and your customer base and you’ll understand why they truly are the saving grace of the Internet Network Marketer.

Attracting Prospects: easier than Field Recruiting and Cold CallingAttraction Marketing: what it is and what it's not

Once you learn what it is and how it works, you will recognize that you have been passively involved in this kind of advertizing and promoting probably for as long as you live.

Since the popularization of the Law of Attraction, many applications to this Law have been made in the business world.  Attraction Marketing is one of them.  It is actually a very proper name for a marketing system that is steadily gaining more attention of MLM and other marketing businesses, especially in the area of  Lead Generation.

This marketing system is set up to attract customers to your business.  That’s it.  No mystery here.

You set up your Marketing system so that your prospective buyers notice you, stop by to see what you have to offer and buy your products.  Or your services, of course.

Thought it would be more complicated, huh?  It isn’t.  Disappointed?  Sorry but I could not make it harder than really it is.

So now you probably wonder: “Is Attraction Marketing, I mean, the actual marketing process, as simple as you make me think it is?”

Truth?  Yes, it is.  And it is also very misunderstood.

Attraction marketing is not trying to gently persuade or convince your consumer to purchase a certain brand of product by using specific marketing strategies.  No matter how pleasant and polite, these strategies are still manipulative and unattractive.

As an attraction marketer, you first find out what the needs and desires are of the people that you want to do business with.  Give them free but useful information that addresses those needs and desires so you can stand out from your competition.

When, on top of your free information you offer them solutions to their problems, you are more likely to gain more repeat customers who come to seek you out for your products and services, instead of finding your competition.

Being a compassionate salesperson is far more attractive then being a self centered merchant.

If you’re still practicing MLM recruiting, can you now see the benefits of doing Attraction Marketing, compared to your way of prospecting?  You safe time and energy while building a lead generation tool that can bring in more bona fide leads in a month than you would be able to know what to do with.

The way to put up your marketing system requires a bit of training on your part and that’s where having  a coach, a guide or a mentor can be of great help.  Once you have all the proper tools and training in place, then you can  start making money with your MLM.

Phone Consulting

Phone consulting is one of the most important aspects you cannot afford to leave out of your MLM business practice.  Of all the components of your network marketing or MLM business, phone consulting is the Achilles heel of your network communication.

It is a bilateral necessity where you consult your down-lines and they you, and your up-lines consult you and you them.  Without this communication your business is doomed to fail. Because of the physical distances between you and your down- and up-line, phone consulting is likely the only personal contact you will have with them – at least for a while.

As a  business owner you need to plan ahead.

Your MLM Business plan shows foresight of how you will be growing your enterprise over the next year or so.  You’ll also have to teach your down-line how to duplicate your business so they in turn can duplicate theirs and so on.  Here is where phone consulting becomes important:  your down-line will ask you questions pertaining to your business and product and it’s your responsibility to make it all understandable and clear to them.  Telecommunication makes it easier to connect with them.

Why the telephone scripts can ruin your business.

In general, MLM companies produce telephone scripts for their distributors.   In your case, your upline may suggest that you memorize, rehearse and cite the script to your prospects over the phone.

I remember in an MLM of past, my up-line suggesting to “create a sense of urgency and not give them [my prospects] time to ask questions.”  “Tell them you have something important to share with them but that you have no time to explain over the phone.  Then invite them to your house on ___ day at ___ time.   Then hang up after a quick goodbye”.

I could not do it…..  It was too corny and much unlike me.

Another more advanced MLM company gave me a script that was a guideline to follow as a basis for a telephone consultation.  It was informative and had suggestive points to go over with my prospects that would coax him or her to eventually buy the service I offered.

Although I favoured the concept of the consultative approach, I was very uncomfortable with this method as well, because, still, I had to do pretty much all the talking and could not get to hear my prospect’s concerns.  Besides, the ‘tone’ of the script was someone else’s, not mine.

The consultative approach works.  However,  in many cases, the ‘consultant’ is an untrained and unskilled person (a novice) who isn’t necessarily showing any concern about the prospect’s perspectives.

By definition, a consultant is an advisor who will give advise based on the questions asked.  And since as, a beginner, you likely won’t know what questions to ask, you will leave a conversation with a phone consultant more confused than before you entered.

What did he just say?

Now I’ll show you another approach that will guide you to ask the right questions and then, step by step, will lead you to your goal.  It’s called: coaching.

MLM Online Coaching versus the Consultative Approach

What a coach does is more than what a consultant proposes: a good coach will listen to you; I mean REALLY listen to you, until you are completely understood and heard.  Your coach will help you to find the right direction and will give you the answers where needed, based on your personal and business needs.

With the aid of your MLM business coach you will find it easier to put your MLM business plan together.  She will teach you how to use the internet to set up your MLM lead generation tools.  These tools will be your network marketing business’s most valuable assets.

[Oh...really??  Yeah, right...]

Paid Blogging is advertised as  one of those internet money makers that will make you scratch your head in wonder.

“I can get paid for blogging?” you may ask.  Well, yes you can. Some people do.

Most people think, though, that paid blogging works like this:

You write your own article and post in on the net.  You get more and more people to read it and next thing you know: Ca-ching!  You have money dripping into your Paypal account.  Unbelievable?

Do some research and then tell me what you think.  Last time I looked, it was far from what I expected it to be.

What’s a blog?

In case this ‘blogging’ thing is new to you, a blog (short for weblog) is a nothing but a mini version of a web-site that gives the reader an option to respond (comment) to the subject matter.   What you’re reading right now is a blog.  This is it.  Not much to it.

One of the nice things about a blog is that you don’t have to respond to each reader’s comment.  Other visitors will leave comments to those already posted.  In return, you and other readers can respond to that comment, and so on and so on.  This way, a blog can take on a life of it’s own, as blogs often do.

Building your own Social Network by blogging

As soon as your blog gets going, your will discover some incredible things.  Readers can and will ask questions or make suggestions about the subject of your well written article.   It pays great dividends to learn the little tricks of the writing trade.  The more educative, entertaining and/or enlightening your articles, the more likely it will be read and the faster your audience will grow.   After a while – and it doesn’t have to take long – there will be a trail of fans who will keep a check on your writings.

Problem Solver

Make it your business to research for answers and solutions to the challenges your readers post.  Research any problem you haven’t quite mastered yet: your visitors will gain from it and you’ll gain more and more knowledge and expand your archives.

They’ll soon discover that you know your subject quite well, and when they need more information, you will be the first person they’ll come to.

Doing so, they become, well, your entourage and they will be happy to share their name and email address with you.

In other words, if you don’t mind me spelling it out for you…

they become your lead list!

Your leads become your customers.

Your customers build your business.

A blog can be as simple as a few lines with a picture or as complicated as an elaborate website.  I suggest you keep your articles short and refer to other articles elsewhere.

Short articles make for an easier read.  You can always add updates to them in the form of additional posts and pictures.  Three short ones are better to follow than one  l-o-n-g one.

Could there be more to blogging than just that?

It’s not a matter of  ‘Could there be’, rather: there is more to blogging and it will get you paid much more anyway.  But only after you set up your own system that will support your blogging strategy and will pay you off some decent dividends (and I am being very conservative here).   If you set up your main blog site as your Central Hub, your mini website, so to speak, and connect your network marketing system to that, you will definitely be blogging for a profit.

After you have your Central Hub in place, design a Sales Funnel and attach it to the hub. Then syndicate it to the Social Networks and………

Sorry, I got carried away.  But this makes an excellent point though: if you want to blog for a profit, you will do good to do some preliminary work.

Learning the finer details of effective blogging can lead to the most profitable internet based business you can imagine!

So, investing in your time and a little money will put you well ahead of those that prefer the ‘easy way out’

Online Social Networks are small online communities where people from all around the world are exchanging ideas and information for personal and business use.  From instant messaging to blogs, the internet has quickly grown to become a vast ocean of internet business opportunities as well as relationship builders.  The online social networks bring these two together.

Online social networks like Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn and SquareSpace, provide you with a wide variety of research information.  Moreover, they reserve a seat for you to play an active part as a member, solution provider and leader in the Cyber Network Industry where hundreds of thousands of others are doing just this: they are putting their business online.

Hey: why not put your MLM business online and use these social networks to build trusting relationships with people who already share your marketing interests!  Let’s elaborate on that a bit more.

In the standard off line method of MLM recruiting, prospecting is the foremost important: can’t start a business without prospects and leads can you?

Old School Recruiting Method: Now Far Less Effective

When on your recruiting mission, making that initial contact and telling your prospect about your product – practice with friends and family first! – you show them the plan, invite them to a local meeting, call them several times a week and hope they will sign up.

You invest a lot of time and a little money in each prospect, give it your all, maybe bring them to a regional convention and promise them a bright future only to find out a couple of weeks later that: “Sorry. I’m not interested…”

All your effort for nothing.

Then your up-line suggests that you buy leads and gives you a crash course in effective cold calling and how to do consulting on the phone.  Still, a month later, none of the hundred ‘hot’ leads you bought signed up.  Bummer.

If only you could learn how to spot only those people who are interested in your business and just “show them the plan”.  That would be so much easier, faster and less frustrating to you, wouldn’t it?

Well, it can be done, you know.  But you’ve got to think outside the box.

The “other” method of MLM Recruiting

Okay.  Suppose you are in a mall full of people that are already searching for what you have to offer: they have been searching for the solution to a problem that you have the remedy to.  You meet them, talk to them, address their issues and, lo and behold, they keep coming to you for answers anytime you show up in that mall.  Some even want to exchange contact information with you, because they want to know more about the business you are in.  You feel like you hit the gold mine!

The online social networks work like that, but better: they are online communities of people with similar interests, who share anything from car mechanics to fine jewelry, health issues to forestry.  No matter your interest, you will find a social group on the internet that addresses that territory.

The neat thing about the internet is that if you can’t find a network that fits your interest perfectly, you can start one yourself.  For example, you can start small and set up a blog or something similar and post an article about your niche.  Within your site, you include a ‘Comment’ widget that allows visitors to participate and bring live to your blog.  This is how you can build your own social network.  Can you imagine what possibilities you have that can evolve from this small start?

An MLM Business Plan keeps your business organized and gives you a clear oversight of where your business is headed.  Planning ahead means setting up a strategy that includes your advertising, budgeting, keeping your books, etc.

How serious are you to succeed in building your business?

This is directly reflected in your MLM business plan.

• Do you have a business plan?
• Do you know what an MLM business plan is?
• Do you know the difference between a Compensation plan and an MLM business Plan?

One of the standard reminders of MLM up lines is to go out and “Show them the plan!” In most cases they refer to the demonstration of a diagram that illustrates the development of your down line and an of the Compensation Plan.

Your prospecting efforts are encouraged to  by your upline telling you that you really only need three to five dedicated people just like you to make a six digit income within a year or two. 

“All you need to do is find those three to five people and you’re sitting good.  You’ll be receiving your mailbox money.”

If it were so simple, the success rate in the MLM industry would not be so low.

Can a downline of 3 make you rich?

Theoretically it can be done.  If you follow the logic on paper, sure.  Get three people, who sponsor three of their own, who in turn do the same.  Draw it out and you’ll see that with your third tier down, on paper you’ll have 39 people in your downline.  Add one more tier and you’ve got yourself a down line of 120! In all practicality,  it doesn’t work this way, I’m sorry to say.  To become a savvy successful entrepreneur, you will have to build your business strategically starting by designing your business plan and your business model.

The Business Plan

Before you start recruiting, it would be wise to put on paper how your business will be structured and how you will budget your money.

The biggest mistake most people make is to jump into a new business venture that promises the world, one that they really cannot afford.  In retrospect none of those “business plans” I was shown in my offline recruiting days made any sense, neither did make me any money.

If you want to go anywhere in the business world, you must plan ahead by knowing what your expenses will be and how much of a profit you will make.  Expect some setup costs in the beginning when you won’t see a profit yet.

For example, some monthly expenses you will have to take into account are:

• Internet fees
• Lead Generation tools
• Auto responder, syndication and web hosting services
• Auto ship fees.

How many new leads will you need to have daily to meet and exceed these expenses in order to run a profitable business?

Look, wasn’t the whole idea of starting your MLM business to become a savvy Independent Entrepreneur?  To be a savvy independent entrepreneur means that will need to learn and understand how to put together and maintain your own MLM business plan.
